Abstract
3329. Lederm³ller, T. Feb. 20. Rolling.-A mill for rolling hollow or solid cylindrical bodies, especially tubes, which may be used for polishing or dressing shafts and the like, has disc rolls a, a<1> with conical faces which effect the rolling and feed of the billet c<1>, a fixed mandrel s being provided for the formation of tubes. The rolls are carried by shafts b, b<1>, having thrust collars engaging blocks d, d<1> which have screwed extensions engaging nuts g, g'. The nuts are free to rotate in the bearings c, c<3>, so that the distance between the rolls may be adjusted by turning the nuts. The rolls are driven by gearing i, i<1> from a shaft j. Guides m, m<1>, Fig. 10, on standards l, l<1> are provided to direct the work through the rolls, the lower guide m<1> being adjustable vertically. A train of rolls may be used side by side, all driven from the shaft j.
