2962. Zibulski [nÚe Arnold], C., and Br³nner [nÚe Wild], S. Feb. 14. Arm-rests.-Fig. 1 shows an arm-rest for use in surgery and in the treatment of invalids. A bar t, pivoted at d to a board a so as to turn horizontally, can be clamped in any position by a set-screw u the head of which works in a circular groove y in the board a. The bar t is provided with verticallyadjustable uprights p, q, r, which support pads m, n, o as shown. The pads m and n are hinged together, the pad n being adjustably secured to the pad o by a horizontal slide to enable the distance between them to be regulated. This distance can also be adjusted by sliding an outer portion of the bar t on the central portion. The pad m is secured to a fork h connected by a bolt l with a slotted bar i pivoted at l to an upright rack e and connected by a link g with a catch f adapted to engage the rack e and secured to a rod which slides vertically on the rack e and carries an additional pad k, which supports the body of the patient. A movement of the catch f alters the height of the pad k, and moves the pads m, n, o horizontally.
