22,593. Guy, J. P. Nov. 13. Moulding saggers, pottery, quarries, &c. - Relates to hydraulic presses of the type described in Specification No. 17,068, A.D. 1890. In order to economize power, two auxiliary lifting-rams b and two small pull-back rams c are provided at the sides of the main pressure ram a, and are used to raise the table z into action, and lower it again with the moulded article w. The pull-back rams are connected to the table by cross-bars and rods d<1>. The mould f is attached to a heavy crosshead e, which is secured at the required height on side rods y, y by nuts y<2>, y<3>. The " stripper '' for ejecting the article from the mould is attached to bolts or rods k which pass through slotted crossbars i connected to a slotted frame h supported by side rods g fixed to the table z. The frame h, with the stripper, is arranged to slide on the rods against the force of springs g<2> to a limited extent. Moulds of different sizes and shapes may be used, and the slotted cross-bars and frame allow the stripper to be varied accordingly. The ram head or table x is fitted with a removable pressure plate or die which can be changed for the purpose of altering the thickness of the bottom of the article &c. The article is removed from the bottom plate or table by a sliding frame carrying a band or sheet-metal strip which is bent to the required shape in order to prevent distortion of the article. The slide is controlled by a spring, and actuated by hand or power, and may carry means for lubricating the table. The Provisional Specification states that the slide may carry a stamping-instrument, and also a knife for detaching the article from the table.
