Abstract
14,996. Thompson, W. P., [Werkstõtte f³r Maschinenbau vorm. Ducommun]. July 20. Turbines.-Centrifugal friction clutches applicable for turbines are made as shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 4. The shell against which the friction blocks bear forms a chamber for lubricant. The construction shown in Fig. 4 is provided with springs which hold the blocks out of contact until a certain speed is exceeded. It may be employed to throw into action a brake or some additional load ; thus, in the case of dynamos driven by turbines, the surplus power may be utilised for driving a dynamo which feeds an accumulator battery.
