Abstract
13,633. Mills, E. C. July 1. Feedwater, purifying, filters for. A removable perforated box c is contained in an outer casing with supply and discharge branches as shown. Its lower edge makes a tight joint with the bottom of the casing, being pressed against it by the screw d. The sides and top of the box are lined with a filter cloth or bag, which may be supported by a wire web, and which is held in place by a central nut and washer. The interior of the box is filled with loose filtering-material, such as wood shavings, sawdust, charcoal, or coke, which is compressed by the domed cover or removable bottom e. The passage k<111> leads to a blow-out valve.
