12,324. Black, J. M..Tune 13. Platen presses; printing on tickets.-Relates to platen ticket-printing machines for printing railway and like tickets. Fig. 1 shows a machine in which the tickets are fed along a guide C by a pusher D on a slide E operated by a lever H, rod G, and eccentric F on the driving-shaft B in a usual manner. The printing-mecbanism is also of ordinary construction, and comprises rock shafts K, K<1> operating the platen rod I, and oscillated by a rod O, slide N, rod M, and crank L. The tickets are cut and supplied from a reel of cardboard a having sides a, a<2>, the former of which is removable for placing a fresh roll of card. The cardboard b is fed by rollers e, f driven from the shaft B by gearing e<3>, e<4>, e<5>, e<6>, the shaft c'‹, and bevel gears. From these rollers the strip b passes, leaving an amount of slack as shown, to a guide l and intermittently-driven feed-rollers h, i, which feed lengths for tickets to the cutting-shears m, m<1>. The rollers h, i are driven intermittently by ratchet mechanism h<8> operated by a toothed segment h<4> and rod h<3> from the slide E. The cut lengths of cardboard are pressed down and pass under a guide m<6> into the groove C, along which they are fed by the sliding pusher D, and printed, in the usual way. The printed tickets n', Fig. 13, pass from the groove C over a plate o and are pressed into an inclined position, as shown, by a pusher p, and are lifted into vertical position in a delivery box n by the plate o sliding horizontally and operated from the slide E by a rod v<3>, lever v<2>, and arms v<1>, &c. The pusher p is carried by arms p<1> pivoted at p<2> and operated by cams on the slide q carrying the plate o. The plate o pushes each ticket past spring retaining-pawls w on the sides of the box n. A block x sliding in the box n supports the tickets in the box. The sides of the box may be provided with springs y for supporting the tickets. The box n leads to a table on which the tickets may be tied up in bundles.
