Abstract
10,892. Baker, W. H., and Kip, F. E. May 24. Loom stop-motions.-In looms for pile fabrics, both the ordinary warps wand the pile warps pare provided at D, A respectively (with forked droppers 3), which straddle bars 1, and, on failure of a warp thread, form electric contact with insulated strips 2 on the bars 1. This completes an electric circuit through a source of electricity G, and causes an electromagnet M on a supplementary knockoff lever k to attract its armature l into the path of a tappet t on the lay L and thus stop the loom. The ordinary knock-off lever K for the weft stop-motion operates a let-off lever N for disengaging the take-up motion and letting back the cloth beam, but, as this is not required in connection with the warp stop-motion, the lever N is not long enough to engage with the knockoff lever k. The droppers for the pile warps are arranged in connection with either one or two easing bars 5, which are mounted in end pieces 6 suspended by wires 9 from springs. The droppers have a thread aperture 3<a> near the top, opening into a slot or fork, which is nearly closed at the bottom by projections 3<b> or otherwise.
