7168. Golby, F. W., [K÷nig, A.]. April 5. Feeding sheets.-Relates to means for separating and feeding sheets from a pile to printing, calendering, folding, and like machines. The sheets are fed forward from the pile to a light contactspring d<2> by means of rounded blocks H of polished horn on the ends of springs fixed to angle levers m pivoted on the ends of arms attached to a disc mounted to rotate on a shaft c. This disc is normally driven by pins on a disc, sliding on but rotating with the shaft c, and having attached to it electromagnets which draw the pins out of engagement when the electric circuit of the magnets is closed. The magnets are attracted by an iron disc fixed on the shaft c. The circuit is closed when the sheet moves the spring d<2> to the contact d<1>, and the rotation of the blocks H then stops until the circuit is broken. The angle levers m are provided with rollers running over a fixed cam O. Two sets of feedarms and blocks H &c., independently stopped by their electric circuits &c., are preferably provided on the shaft c, one operating upon each side of the sheet.
