Abstract
25,801. Macfie, J. Dec. 7. Spindle ap p a - ratus for spinning, twisting, and winding machines. The flyer or "top" is made from a single piece of wire, which is bent into the form shown and sprung upon the end of the spindle B, which has a notch in its end and is preferably flattened at the sides and provided with notches in the edges near the base of the flattened sides to accommodate the bends in the wire. Figs. 6 and 9 are plans of two "tops" for use on a cop-winding machine for winding cops in an inverted position within conical cups. The horizontal arms K, L in the arrangement shown in Fig. 6 are bent into hooks, and in the arrangement shown in Fig. 9 into semicircles, shoulders P being provided to engage with the thread.
