Abstract

20,685. Harper, R. R., and Garnham, J. C. Sept. 30. Signalling and communicating on trains. -Relates to an electric coupling for railway carriages, for connecting - up the passengers' communication or electric lighting circuits. Each member of the coupling consists of a spring bow 9 provided with undulating or serrated prongs 8, and is suspended by the short cable 7 from the line-wire terminal at the end of the carriage. To connect the coupling, the prongs are slid together, the undulations interlocking with each other, as shown in Fig. 4. One member of the coupling may have three prongs and the other only one, the latter member being inserted between the prongs of the former.
