Teeth, stopping; teeth, artificial.-A composition for dental purposes, such as manufacturing artificial gums, stopping teeth, or fastening teeth to plates, is made by dissolving celluloid, xylonite, or similar material, and camphor in a solvent, preferably consisting of alcohol, methylated ether, and acetone, suitable colouring-matters being added. In producing artificial gum, the composition is spread evenly over the roughened surface of the plate, and is worked continuously to remove air bubbles. The appearance of the blood vessels in the natural gums may be imitated by adding to it before it sets a quantity of deep-red powdered celluloid &c.
