Abstract
17,673. Karavodine, V. Aug 16. Steam and furnace-gas engine furnaces.-Relates to a generator for producing a mixture of steam and furnace gases suitable for feeding a thermic motor. The generator is hermetically closed and so arranged that the fuel, water, and air may be introduced, and the cinders removed, without diminishing the high pressure. The fireclay chamber b within the metallic receiver A is divided into two compartments separated by a horizontal partition and communicating by the channel D. The pipe F conducts the fluid to the motor. The fuel is placed in the pipe R, which is closed at each end by caps S and X, and fed on to the grate by advancing the disc n. Rotary bars f crush the slag and cinders, which fall into the pipe N through the plug hole of the cock M. Water fills the lower part of the receiver A and is renewed as required by a pump which also sends water and spray to the upper compartment. The air pump, Fig. 3, delivers air at high pressure into the metallic receiver A. Only the quantity of air required for the motor is allowed to pass by reason of the motor governor controlling the lever M<1> and nut L<1> and the eccentrics T, T<1> opening the valves a, a<1>.
