Abstract

17,442. Sanders, R. D. Aug. 12. Making wire.-A non-conducting rotating mandrel, which may be of glass, porcelain, &c., or of metal a coated internally and externally with vulcanite or the like, has a wire d helically wound thereupon. This wire may rest on the surface, or in shallow grooves therein, and may be of any section. Upon this foundation wire presses a number of contact-makers f resting upon the conducting-wire h. When the current flows from the anode to the foundation wire, copper or other metal deposits upon each turn of the wire d, as shown at j. The wire thus formed may be removed along with the foundation wire, from which it may be subsequently separated. Reference is made to Specifications No. 7960, A.D. 1891, No. 12,382, A.D. 1892, and No. 13,931, A.U. 1893.
