Abstract

15,425. Schafer, A. July 13. Locking-apparatus to prevent theft; steering-mechanism, locking. Fig. 1 shows s a steering-lock applied to a bicycle steering - head. A socket E formed on the bead tube is screwed internally to receive a bolt H, having a square or other polygonal head, by which it may be rotated till its reduced end J presses against, or enters a hole in, the steering-post. A screw S, adapted to engage a flange F on the bolt, prevents the latter from getting lost through vibration. The head of the bolt is entirely enclosed in the socket, so that a specially-shaped key is required to turn it. By this arrangement the front wheel may be locked at an angle to the frame.
