Abstract
2176. Bain, D. Jan. 27. Luggage holders.-Relates to suspending-appliances for supporting bicycles &c. in railway or other vehicles. The bicycle is supported at the set pillar lug A by a U-shaped hook 1 formed on a rod 1<a>, the upper end of which is hooked on to an eye 1<c> secured to the roof. The other side of the hook 1 is connected by a chain 3 and hook 3<a> to an eye secured to the roof. The hook 1 may be suitably padded. The front of the bicycle may be similarly suspended, or may be supported, as shown, by trough-shaped arms 5 and 10, which engage the front wheel and are pivoted to a partition 7 hinged to the wall at 8 so that they can be turned out of the way when not in use. A seating 11 fixed to the partition 7 aids in securing the wheel. This suspending-appliance may also be used in combination with the arrangements described in Specifications Nos. 26,511 and 28,772, A.D. 1896.
