Kinematographic apparatus.-Relates to the construction of apparatus for taking or displaying animated photographs, and consists of devices for moving the film without vibration. The parts are shown for operation by hand, but they may be otherwise driven. The wheel N is driven by a handle P, and the shaft H is driven therefrom by spur gearing M, K, and J. Fixed on this shaft is a disc C having a crank-pin and sliding block working in a slot in the long arm of a lever F, the short arm of which terminates in a spring pawl E which drives a ratchet-wheel on the shaft B, upon which the sprocket-wheel or driving-barrel for the film S is carried. Upon the shaft B is also fixed a starwheel Q with which a spring brake disc R<1> engages, whereby excessive or irregular movement and vibration of the disc are prevented. A hinged plate T carries film-guiding rollers T', which can be held against the framing by catch pieces T<2>. The starwheel Q and the lever F may be omitted, the brake disc R<1> engaging directly with the ratchet-wheel on the shaft B, and the ratchet-wheel being directly driven by the crank-pin on the plate G.
