Candle extinguishers; candle holders.-An elastic ring c, mounted in a groove in the lower end of the candle, normally causes the candle to be firmly held in its socket. When the candle is burnt down to it and thus softened in its proximity, the ring contracts and smothers the flame. In a slightly-modified form, and in conjunction with a scale on the candle representing units of time, the ring may be used for extinguishing the candle at a predetermined time.
