29,713. Boult, A. J., [Beede, W. H., and Webber, A. L.]. Dec. 15. Tyres, pneumatic, closing punctures of. The Figures show an apparatus for repairing pneumatic tyres. The body 2 of the apparatus consists of a chamber 3 containing a heating apparatus 5 and having openings 6 in its sides. To this body portion shelves 7 and 12 and a post 13 are attached. The tyre to be operated upon is held between clamping-blocks 4 and 20 grooved as shown, and pressed together by means of a screwed spindle 18 engaging with a bracket 16 clamped to the post 13 by a screw 17. A curved bracket 26 supports the upper portion of the tyre when the concaved block 4 is in the lower position. The blocks shown are used with the tyre inflated, but blocks with other shaped grooves adapted for deflated tyres may be used. The shelves 7 and 12 support blocks and keep them hot ready for use. A spindle 15 engaging with a bracket 14 adjustably connected to the post 13 and a spindle 9 engaging with an arm 8 pivoted to the shelf 7 enable repairs to be executed on the said shelves. The vulcanizing-block is always placed on the top of the part 2, to be made sufficiently hot to melt the repairing-material.
