Abstract
23,556. Stones, W. G., and Stones, J. H. Oct. 13. Wagons for velocipedes.-Relates to stands for cycles in railway vans. Fig. 2 shows a bicycle supported by the stand. A tube b telescopes within the standard c, and a pin n on the tube engages a slot in the standard. A hinged clip consisting of two members a, a<x> is provided at the top of the tube and grips the handle-bar or other member of the machine. The clip may be closed by a wheel f and a screw bolt f<x> or by a clamping-ring. A bar-lock l or other device may be applied to the clip to prevent theft, and may be made to act as a tightening- device for the jaws. Blocks k for the reception of the machine member are fitted to the jaws. The standard c may be solid and cranked at its lower end so as to fit into a socket secured to the floor. A spring may be used to steady the support when erect. The floor socket is so arranged that the support may be folded down upon the floor, or entirely removed, when not required for use. A modification of the socket is designed to be fitted to the roof, and is used to retain the support in a hanging position.
