Abstract

20,762. Schoeneberger, F. Sept. 9. Drawings to Specification, Steam pumps.-Relates to the distributing-valves of the motor cylinder and to the pump valves and gear therefor in a direct-acting pumping-engine. The valves are lodged in transversely - disposed chambers, and are a variety of cylindrical or piston slide with an angular as well as a rectilinear movement. The latter component of the motion is given by tappet gear direct from the main pistonrod, and through the medium of suitable cavities in the valve effects a distribution of the motive agent in the valve-chest that produces the requisite endwise reciprocation of the valve. By this movement certain cavities are brought into use, through which the pressure fluid entering or leaving by the pipe passes to or from one or other end of the cylinder by the passages ; while exhaust or suction takes place from the opposite end through the corresponding passage and a tubular cavity.
