Acetylene.- Water is supplied automatically to the carbide chamber 7 from a reservoir 5 by means of a verticallymovable pipe 3 provided with an opening 3<a> and actuated by the holder 2. W h e n the holder is full of gas, the opening 3<a> is above the water level in the reservoir, but as consumption proceeds it is depressed below the surface and water flows through the pipes 3 and 6 to the generating- chamber 7.
