16,842. Rayner, G. G. July 16. Spigot-and-socket joints.-Reference is made to Specification No. 25,181, A.D. 1894. The inside of the socket and the base of the spigot are annularly corrugated, and at the base of the socket is a parallel or slightly-tapered ring 4 of asphalt or other like substance, the mouth having a similar ring 5, which may have a rounded or plain surface, but is considerably tapered. The spigot has also rings 6 and 7, which may be rounded. When the pipes are put together an annular chamber 8 is formed into which cement is introduced.
