Abstract
13,705. O'Grady, T. S. June 3. Seeds, sowing.-Relates to the construction of apparatus which may be made of a size suitable for hand sowing, or of a larger size. The apparatus consists of a conical container A having a spout a at the smaller or discharge end. The spout a is closed by the suitably-shaped end of a lever B, pivoted in the lugs a', and provided with a set-screw b, by means of which the movement of the lever B can be limited to regulate the amount of seed to be sown. A spring C is provided to keep the lever B in the closed position. A wire D is attached to the lever B, and works through a hole in the container A so as to prevent the spout a from becoming clogged when the lever B is operated by pressure on its upper end. The cover F is fitted with a hit-and-miss valve for purposes of filling or inspection. The container may be divided into compartments to enable seeds of different kinds to be sown simultaneously.
