Abstract

12,526. Jensen, P., [Petrich, M. 0., and Petrich, P. E.]. May 20. Couplings, non-automatic.-Fig. 4 shows a side elevation and Fig. 3 a plan of a coupling without the hook. A crank shaft, which is journalled at a, is provided with cranks b, b having rule-jointed connections with the rods c, c, which are attached to the coupling-link h by an intermediate piece f, the surfaces in contact being provided with teeth which compel the system to become horizontal when the crank shaft is turned into that position. The crank is turned by a rod m from either side of the vehicle. Arms h<3> and balance weights i normally retain the link h in a horizontal position. After coupling has been effected, the crank shaft is turned back through 180‹ so as to tighten the coupling and take up all slack.
