Packing-cases for bottles, shells, or charged projectiles, and other fragile articles are fitted with cells to receive the articles, so that they may be held apart from one another and from the sides, ends, bottom, and lid of the case. The cells are formed by strips of thin wood or other suitable material E laid crosswise as shown in Fig. 3, and resting at the ends on supports D, D' fitting in the grooves A in the sides and ends. The articles rest on false bottoms B supported on strips C. Protecting- bars G similarly separated from the lid are used at the top.
