Abstract
189,584. Chadwick, J. Sept. 20, 1921. Stud-and-slot fastenings. -In a stud-and-slot fastening, the socket member S has a keyhole slot X, a wire spring with parallel arms lying along the narrow part of the slot for gripping the neck of the stud, a central half-dome P raised from the metal, and a flanged rim, the half-dome and the flange serving as means for holding the wire spring C to the plate. This spring has a U- shaped portion F, the parallel arms of which lie along the sides of the narrow part of the slot and are stiffened by the bends J<1>, J<2>. The stud is pressed into the wider part of the slot X and drawn into the narrow part, where its neck is gripped by the spring arms F. The stud is also pressed up from the metal of a plate.
