Abstract

Corves.-A train of mining corves which is hauled along the working face to a discharging bridge, carries one or more levers which are depressed by a fixed guide at the discharging point so as to unlock doors or other parts of the cars, further haulage then causing discharge of the coal from the cars. In one form, the cars a, Fig. 3<a>, have sliding bottom plates e connected one to another by chains f, and the cars are kept apart by bars (not shown), turning on swivels. On the last car of the train, the floor is locked to the body bv a weight c on a rod d which slides in guides b on the car. When the train of cars is. hauled on to the bridge, the first car engages a stop-block on the track, and an overhead bar engages the lever l, raising the rod d and weight c so that the bottom plates e are hauled forward and the cars discharged. As shown in Figs. 6 and 7, each car is open at one end and provided at the other end with a hinged door 9 normally held closed by a latch-bar 11, resting in a bracket 12 on the car. At the discharging bridge, the cars move in turn past a fixed guide which depresses a lever 13 on each car to raise the latchbar and allow the door to drop. The open cars are then discharged by hauling them past a fixed scraper 16.
