Luggage racks and holders.-In order to retain articles of luggage or the like in a receptacle or recess on a motor or like vehicle, a guard B having a resiliently supported edge B<4> is arranged across a portion of the lateral aperture A<3> giving access to the recess. In the construction shewn, in which the aperture A<3> is disposed in the vehicle dashboard A<2> as described in Specification 20719/14, [Class 79 (iii), Motor vehicles. Arrangement &c. of parts of], the flexible guard B of net or like material is attached at its lower edge to a fixed rod B<2> and at its upper edge to an inextensible cord B', which passes through guide-hooks B<6> and is connected at its ends to springs C. the arrangement allowing the edge B<4> to yield downwardly under the pressure applied when inserting luggage in the recess. The inextensible cord B<4> may be replaced by an elastic cord attached at its end to the dashboard or by a resiliently supported rigid rod.
