Abstract

188,496. Hubbard, C. W. Oct. 14, 1921. Winding-machines; spindle apparatus.-In apparatus, such as that described in Specification 106,581, wherein the yarn mass is built up upon a support in a rotary yarn-receiver, the yarn being arranged in layers extending transversely to the axis of rotation, the yarn support comprises a plate 6 pressed up against the yarn mass by a spring 26 the lower end of which bears against a plate 7 secured to a split friction ring 8 engaging the sides of the yarn receiver 1. The ends of the split ring 8 are pressed apart by an adjustable spring 15. The plate 6 is caused to turn with the receiver 1 by means of a projection 27 slidably engaging a recess 28 in a stud 29 secured to the plate 7.
