Tyres, elastic, and tyre covers, tools for removing and replacing.-A tool for manipulating split rims is formed by two pairs of links 6, 7 pivoted on a pin 8, and hinged to two pairs of rim clamps 1, which connect in pairs by crossbolts 2. In openings 9 of the links 7 is journaled a rocking-shaft 10, having an enlarged centre portion to space the links, and carrying an arm 11, the free end of which is hinged to the angled ends of a pair of links 12. A lever wrench 15 has at one end forked jaws 16, 17, and at the other a wrench opening to fit the projecting arms 13 of the rocking-shaft 10. To contract the rim, the jaw 16 of the lever 15 is engaged under the bolt 2, and the lever moved upward to the position shown in Fig. 3. The wrench opening is then applied to the arm 13 of the rocking-shaft 10 which is turned in its bearings to rock the arm 11 and move the links 12 beyond the dead-centre. The tool then remains locked until reverse operations expand the contracted rim.
