Abstract

July 12, 1921 Hoof-pads.- In pneumatic pads for horseshoes comprising an air bag within a c a s e secured to the shoes or between the shoe and the hoof, the opening in the case through which the bag may be inserted and removed is provided at its edges with eyeletted holes to receive a lace for drawing together the edges of and closing the opening. In the form shown, the air bag 5, Fig. 4, is heart-shaped and is provided with an inflation valve 6 lying between the shoulders 8 so as not to protrude beyond them. The opening at the rear end of the flexible case, Fig. 1, is closed by a lace 13 threaded through eyeletted holes 12, and the case is provided with a flange 9 secured to the hoof side of the shoe or between the shoe and the hoof. The outer or ground face 11 of the case may be formed with cross-ribs 14, studs or the like, to prevent wear and slipping, and, in order to prevent puncturing of the bag 5, the face 11 is of stout construction and may contain a thin metal plate.
