Abstract

185,218. Bridgwood, W. D. May 31, 1921. Hooks.-A banding strip for finishing the tacked edges of upholstered articles, is made with its edges 1 reflexed longitudinally leaving a narrow gap 2 between the opposing edges throughout the length of the strip. A fastening device for this form of banding strip consists of a metal plate 5 pierced with a hole 4 through which a tack 3 is inserted. The edges 6 of this plate are turned over to grip a covering plate 7 which secures the tack in position. To attach the banding, these individual fastening devices are inserted between the reflexed edges of the strip as shown in Fig. 6. The underside of the plate 5 may be indented or corrugated to increase its gripping effect. Specification 21403/09 is referred to.
