Abstract

183,175. Preston, H. J. March 2, 1921. Heating by electricity.-An electric heating- device for immersion in a liquid comprises a hollow truncated double-walled metal cone body closed at the top and bottom, a cone-shaped mica element upon which is radially wound a resistance wire, and a metal tube on the body to contain the wire leads. The cone B, Fig. 1, comprises walls 6, 7 with top and bottom flanges united at 18, 19 to form a closed body. A central mica cone 10, Fig. 4 is radially wound with wire 11, the ends 13 passing up through a tube 15 attached to the body B. A stand C with ribs 20 supports the heater, the liquid to be heated circulating between it and the heater. This stand may be formed integrally with the base of the containing-vessel D.
