Cabins.-In ships provided with outside cabins 1 inside cabins 5, the latter being lighted by air shafts 4 located above the floor of the outside cabins so as to leave spaces below the shaft available for fittings or furniture. the air shafts are so located with regard to the single partition 2 below it which separate adjacent outside cabins that the shaft extends preferably to an equal extent into the adjacent cabins. The bottom of the air shafts may be inclined, and the inside cabins 5 are separated by passages 10 which communicate with the outside cabins.
