Abstract
181,647. Weir, Ltd., G. & J., and Weir of Eastwood, (William Douglas), Baron. Oct. 14. 1921. Surface condensers. -- A vertical plate is arranged directly above the water outlet of a steam-condenser, with the object of preventing vortex motion in the outflowing water, and a consequent rise in the water, with risk of it entering the air outlet, which is to be placed as near the water outlet as possible. The plate d may extend outwards from the, axis of the outlet b, as shown, or it may stop at the edge of the outlet, as indicated by the dotted line g, or it may extend across the outlet.
