Abstract

181,549. Cholerton, G. April 16, 1921. Carriages.-The bobbin carriages A are provided with discs D pivoted at G in place of the usual verge while the spring H has a shoe J at the free end to fit over the side plates of the bobbin C. The discs D are located in recesses closed by covers F. When the thread is partly worked off the bobbin, the side plates close in and grip the discs which then act as anti-friction devices. The recess of the shoe J may be so proportioned that, when the bobbin is full, the shoe J does not fit so close down on the side plates as when the bobbin is less full of thread. The result is to relieve the spring H as the bobbin empties and to compensate in part for the increase in tension due to the pull on the thread approaching the centre of the bobbin.
