Removing stalks from fruit. - Relates to a machine for removing stalks from cherries and other fruit wherein, when the stalks of several cherries are connected they are engaged by hooks h carried on an endless cloth f and are pulled through a comb i which detaches the cherries, and wherein the single-stalked cherries drop into grooves k having slots k<1> through which individual stalks project and are pulled off by rollers t', t<2>. The cherries are fed into a hopper a, closed by a hinged flap b which rests on a recessed roller c, damage to the fruit being thus prevented. The cherries are fed by the roller c to a frame e, the rate of feeding being regulated by a vertically adjustable rotary brush d. The frame e is inclined, mounted on suspension springs or the like, is smooth, perforated or grooved, and is vibrated by an eccentric e<1>. The cloth f may be replaced by side chains and transverse bars to which the hooks are secured, in which case the cherries fall into a conduit p and the stalks into a conduit l, The single-stalked cherries are not engaged by the hooks h and fall on an apron j which delivers them to the inclined grooves k.
