Abstract
178,897. Howarth, R. S. Jan. 15, 1921. Cylinders, hollow.-The condensation-collecting bucket of a steam-heated cylinder comprises a base-plate and body, and in some cases the ends of the body, formed from a single blank; alternatively the bucket is constituted by two halfbuckets so formed. Fig. 5 shows a half-bucket formed by bending a blank, Fig. 4, along the lines 15, 25, 18, 23, whereby the base 10, Fig. 5, radial wall 16, curved wall 17, and its stiffened edge 19 and the ends are constituted. Alternatively the two half-buckets may be provided with a common end. The end 10<b> of the base may be clamped between the wall of the cylinder and a stiffening- ring 11, Fig. 1, and the other end 10<a> between the cylinder wall and the flange 7a of the end piece. The end 10<a> may alternatively be gripped by a second stiffening-ring. The truunions may be separately formed and bolted to the end plates. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 2284/78.
