Abstract

176,370. Verner, H. Heppe-. March 2, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Wet-separating.-Substances of different specific gravities are introduced into a liquid of relatively high specific gravity, and are separated by means of two sets of slowly rotating perforated buckets, separate discharges being provided for the two materials. The mixture is first fed on to a rotary sieve 10 from which the dust, and, if desired, the coarser particles, is discharged by a shoot 11. The remaining substances are charged by means of a shoot 13, preferably at the side on which the buckets 6 enter the liquid, into the inner compartment 16 of a semicircular trough 4. The lighter particles, which float on or near the surface of the liquid in the compartment 16, are removed by perforated buckets 6 and carried into a hopper 9, from which they are discharged by a shoot 15. The heavier particles pass through an opening 7 in the compartment 16 into the lower zone of liquid in the trough 4, and are scooped up by the perforated buckets 5 and discharged by a hopper 8 and discharge shoot. These buckets 5, 6 are carried on cross-arms 2, 3 respectively, which are mounted on a horizontal shaft 1 journaled upon the trough 4.
