Abstract

Tobacco pipes. - A slotted tube 4 is inserted in an enlarged bowl 3 and is rotated and moved in or out to bring the bore into communication with the interior of the bowl or the atmosphere. The ends of the tube are inclined and the outer end is closed by a plug 5, which may be formed in one piece with a knob 7 from stamped sheet metal and secured by solder. On rotating the tube, the knob bears on the outer surface of the bowl and is forced outwards.
