Envelopes, making. - Relates to envelopemaking machines of the kind described in Specification 9244/15, and consists in providing means for registering or aligning the blank before it reaches the closing-flap treating-station, where the flap is gummed and folded. The device, as shown in side elevation in Fig. 1, comprises a frame 1 mounted on a shaft 2 and oscillated by means of a crank-pin 5, to which it is connected by a link 4. This frame 1 carries a feeding-device consisting of a roller 8 in contact with discs 9, these discs having gaps 9<1> formed in their edges. Registering or aligning fingers 14 are mounted on a shaft 15 which is rocked by a cam 17 secured to the shaft of the discs 9. A plate 18 and wires 21 receive the blank as it issues from the feeding-device. In use, when the frame 1 swings over to the left, the feeding device 8, 9 receives a blank from the flap-folding mechanism and feeds it between the plate 18 and wires 21 until it rests against and is aligned by the ends 14<1> of the fingers 14. The gaps 9<1> in the discs 9 cause feeding-device to release the blank when it is in contact with the fingers 14, thus preventing buckling of the blank. By the time the frame 1 has swung over to the right, the fingers 14 are moved downwards by the cam 17 and the blank is then engaged by feed-rolls 19, 20 to be conveyed to the next station for subsequent treatment.
