Abstract

170,321. Cowley, J. T., and Lamson Co. May 19, 1920. Roller-ways; shoots.-Articles are deposited on or removed from rollerway conveyers, shoots, &c., preferably without interrupting the continuity of the conveyer, by slightly raising pivoted branch tracks. Goods are transferred from a spiral roller-way conveyer 10 to a roller-way conveyer 25 by a rollerway conveyer 22 which is supported at one end by a horizontal pivot 21 and at the other by a cam 41. The rollers 30 at the inner end of the convever 22 are arranged to come between and project slightly above the rollers 11 of the conveyer 10 when the cam 41 is turned, and in this position an article descending the conveyer 10 is received on the rollers 30 and directed by them and the rollers 26 to the conveyer 25. In the lowered position of the conveyer 22, an article descending the conveyer 10 does not come 'into contact with the rollers 30 and continues along the conveyer 10. The part 50 of the guard rail 18 of the conveyer 10 is arranged to be swung to the position shown simultaneously with the raising of the conveyer 22.
