Abstract

169,839. Guite, H. July 10, 1920. Addition to 153,117. Saws.-Consists in the following modifications of construction of the hacksaw frame described in the parent Specification, (1) the screw threads 1 and 3 on the saw back 2 and sawblade holder 4 are made of the same diameter and pitch to enable the holder to be screwed directly into the handle 5, Fig. 2, so that a saw blade 6 may be used similarly to a keyhole saw; (2) a hole 7 is provided at each end of the back 2 so that one end of an unbroken saw blade may be secured directly to the back 2 and the other end to the side of the holder 4; (3) a member 10, Fig. 4, provided with a marking or cutting tool 12 is adapted to be screwed on to the end of the back 2, and to be used in conjunction with a trammel pin or cutting tool'inserted in the part 11 for cutting or marking circles, and this part 10, when detached, may be used as a chisel; (4) an auxiliary handle 13, adapted to slip on the back 2 and be secured in any position by a screw 14, may be provided to facilitate the use of the saw. 169,885. Chisels.-A cold chisel is formed with a cutting-edge H, and a number of wedge-shaped cutting-ridges C, D, E, c, d, e spaced apart and rising from the cutting-edge on both sides of the blade. The chisel may be used to remove bolts from wood by driving the chisel slantwise under the head of the bolt so that the ridges cut into the wood and the head of the bolt, which is thus held secure, while its nut is unscrewed.
