Abstract

Thermionic oscillation generators.-In a method of producing high-frequency oscillations from direct or low-frequency pulsating current by means of a device comprising an electron-emitting cathode and an anode, the electron stream is controlled by a magnetic field produced by the current carried by the stream. In an example, a constant magnetic field, variable by the rheostat 11, is produced by the coil 9 in a thermionic tube 1, the cathode of which is connected through a choke 6, and the anode through a direct-current source 5, to an oscillatory circuit 7, 8, 13. The coil 7 is wound on the tube 1 with the coil 9, and its field produced by the electron current is superimposed on the constant field due to the coil 9. Oscillations are produced in the circuit 7, 8, 13 depending on its constants.
