Multiple fabrics.-In weaving multiple fabrics for brake blocks and linings, clutch linings, machine, conveyer, and other belts, webbing, stair treads, soles of boots &c., every thread or end of each set or ply of warps is interwoven with two sets or plies of wefts without any warp thread passing completely through the fabric. Thus five sets of single warps g, h, j, k, m, Fig. 1, all shed together in each set are interwoven with six sets of wefts a - - f inserted alternately in adjacent plies, each set of warps interweaving with adjacent sets of wefts. The warps of each set may be double or shed half or other proportion up and the others down at each pick, the wefts being inserted in line, or single and double sets of warps may be used as shown in Fig. 4 where the outer sets of warps g, m are double and interweave with sets of wefts a, band c, f in line, and the inner sets h, j, k are single and interweave with sets of wefts b, c, d, e mounted alternatively. Each set of warps may pass through a set of wefts and interweave with the sets of wefts on each side thereof.
