Braiding-machines.-In machines of the type comprising inner and outer sets of bobbins rotat. ing in opposite directions, the outer thread-guide arms are rotated with a varying angular velocity to enable the outer threads to pass over and under two inner bobbins to produce a two-overtwo braid. Figs. 1 and 4 show a machine in which the arms 28 of the outer threads are carried by elliptic gears 27 meshing with elliptic gears 26 fast with gears 25 engaging a track 22. The outer bobbins 23 are carried by a frame 6 actuated through gearing 7, 8, which frame supports intermeshing gears 19, 19<a> engaging respectively with a fixed gear 20 and a frame 21 carrying the track 22. A sleeve 3, driven through gears 4, 5, carries a track 18 driving the inner bobbins 12 through gears 13 mounted on the inner guide disc 9 which is driven from the sleeve 3 through a double pinion 16, 17 meshing with a fixed gear 15 and a gear 14 on the disc 9. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the outer thread arms 48 are pivoted eccentrically to discs 46 on which revolve gears 49 engaging the track 43, the gears 49 driving the levers 48 through a pin-andslot connection 50. The discs 46 are secured to arms 45 on a frame 34 supporting the outer bobbins 44 and driven through a gear 36. The track 43 is supported from the inner bobbin-guide frame 32 by arms 42. A frame 33, driven by a gear 35, carries the inner bobbin driver 41 and drives the frame 32 through a double gear 37.
