Hinged valves; vent pegs, fittings for carrying. -The tap-hole valves for barrels &c., described in the parent Specification, are made with a conical rubber &c. plug a<1>, Figs. 1 and 4, having one or more rubber discs a<2>, preferably integral therewith and with an internal core b, b<1>, Fig. 4, of metal, to which the hinged arm c is secured. The disc or discs a<2> form a tight joint in the hole, as shown in Fig. 1. The arm c is pivoted to a bracket d which is recessed to form a guard for the valve in its inoperative position. The valve is retained in its closed position, as shown, or open, by a laminated spring g operating on the heel of the arm c. The bracket d is provided with drain holes h which also serve to hold wire fittings j to carry spare vent plugs k.
