164,224. Nelson, Ltd., W., and Easton, W. B. May 15, 1920. Pressing.-Relates to a rotary table machine for moulding glass stoppers having disc-shaped heads and taper shanks. An annular table d carries a series of moulds e each of which is provided with multiple holes for simultaneously forming the shanks of a number of stoppers, the heads being formed in a corresponding stationary mould j. The table is given a step-by-step motion through the action of a ratchet wheel and pawl g<1>, which is actuated through links by a cam on a disc f<4>, the disc f<4> being geared with the main driving shaft a. The table is supported by spring-mounted rolls d<1> so that it is normally slightly above the mould j. A presser frame k connected by links k<2>, k<3> to pillars k<1> is suspended above the mould y. When one of the moulds e is in position above the mould y, glass is supplied to it and is pressed into the coacting moulds by the descent of a plunger o<1> carried by a cross-head n sliding on pillars m. Before the plunger o<1> reaches its operative position, smaller plungers o<3> press the frame k on to the mould e which is thus held in position. During the moulding the table d is depressed owing to the spring rolls yielding, but rises again on the ascent of the plungers. The frame k is lifted by rods o<4> with hooked ends which are operated by fixed pieces p. When the table rises it lifts the stoppers out of the mould j and carries them round to the position shown at the right of the Figure where they are ejected from the mould by a plunger r<1> pressing down a plate q<4> carrying pins which enter the holes of the mould. The ejector is operated by the movement of the cross-head n through levers s, r. A fixed blade serves to remove surplus glass from the top of the mould e as the table moves after the moulding operation. The plungers are mounted on springs as shown. A treadle c operating a clutch is provided to stop the machine when required.
