Abstract

162,323. Kershaw, G. Nov. 26, 1919. Yarns, warping. - Relates to devices comprising a disc, ring, cup, &c. mounted to revolve with freedom athwart its axis around a fixed pivot or a pivot or sleeve projecting from a revoluble disc, to bear upon and apply tension to or clean yarns, thread, cord, twine. &c. in winding, warping, or other machines. The discs, rings, cups, &c. c. Fig. 1, and the disc and sleeve a, b are covered or coated with enamel. The discs a and sleeve b may be formed separately of steel or other metal or alloy by stamping &c., and united by compression of the discs upon or into the sleeves, which may be grooved or provided with collars or washers or shoulders, and if desired by brazing, soldering, or electric or other welding; or the discs and sleeves may be formed separately of porcelain, glass, or stabilite, formed by mixing para-rubber, antimony, sulphide china clay and lead oxide into a dough and afterwards vulcanizing in moulds; or they may be formed integrally of stabilite, glass, porcelain, or vulcanized fibre or other non- metallic material capable of being moulded. The disc or cup c may be formed of glass, porcelain,. stabilite or other non-metallic material.
