160,261. Railing, M. J., and Connaughton, J. J. V. Dec. 16, 1919. Addition to 139,994. Mine signalling systems; order apparatus.- Comprises-two modifications in the mine-signalling apparatus described in the parent Specfication, in which signal impulses energize a relay d whose armature e<1> closes the circuit of a solenoid which operates the ratchet-wheel m through a pawl p. According to the present invention, (1) the armature p<1> of the release magnet f is provided with a light spring-controlled pawl p<2> pivoted at p<3> in order that it may be sure to engage the teeth of the ratchet-wheel however quickly this may be turned; and (2) the relay d is provided with an additional hold-on winding which ensures that the armature e<1> shall remain in the attracted position until the hold-on circuit is broken by the movement of the lever n that carries the pawl p. This lever is provided with an insulated striker c<3> which at the end of a stroke separates the contacts a<3>, b<3>, thus breaking the hold-on circuit.
